Your Calling

If someone had told me years ago that I was going to be a spiritual teacher and write materials exploring the mystic’s questions, I would have thought they were crazy. I never set out to be a spiritual teacher. It was never a goal I deliberately pursued – rather I felt called to this service and I had to answer.

Have you ever felt “called” to serve in some way?  This idea introduces the next aspect of our four point topic.  In the last Journal Pages we began to explore the mystic’s question, “What is my purpose?”  As a review, in the broadest sense ultimately we all share a common purpose and it is surprisingly simple:

 Your purpose is to shine your unique Light.

How you shine your Light can be clarified by breaking down the complex question, “what is my purpose?” into four aspects: your Being, Doing, Calling, and Soul’s Mission.

Your Being is about knowing your core essence of Light.

Your Doing is about knowing what the unique thing is that you do with your core essence and how you demonstrate your Being.

Your Calling is about what you are here to do to serve others.

And your Soul’s Mission is about your life’s theme.

We discussed the aspects of “Being” and “Doing”, now let’s continue our discussion by exploring the “Calling”.

Your Calling

The third part of the question of “What is my purpose?” has to do with your “calling” or how you came to serve mankind during your lifetime. This is what we traditionally think of as a job or profession. Whether you are a CEO of a multi-million dollar company or a destitute artist, an organizer of a homeless shelter, an engineer, or a housewife, in some way you serve mankind.

Numerous books have been written on the subject of how to match aptitudes with a profession and, of the four aspects of your purpose, this is the one that young people in their 20’s and 30’s are most concerned with. The immediate pressure of finding a job that provides an income is a driving force. Sooner or later though, they become aware of a “calling” within that urges them to find fulfillment that feeds their soul. Whether they consciously know it or not, this fulfillment comes from expressing their Light and knowing that it matters.

I have certainly felt “called” to write these Journal Pages and it fulfills an inner sense of purpose.  This is one of the ways I shine my Light.

The purpose of this article is not to examine your aptitudes and find a profession that matches it – there are plenty of resources on the market to accomplish that. The purpose of this article is to bring something to your attention that I have never seen in print.

God needs you

You see, your Light is unique and there is no one else that can express that Light, therefore you are in a very strong bargaining position. God knows itself by experiencing life through us. What most of us don’t know (or don’t remember) is that God needs us as much as we need God. It’s a two-way street.  The universe needs you to express your Light and you feel it as an inner “calling”.

Really understanding how you are needed by the universe may require letting go of some deeply conditioned thinking about your role in the cosmos.

Popular traditions promote the idea that we must submit ourselves to God’s will. It is not uncommon for people to say they felt “called” to a profession or service and they feel intuitively they are fulfilling the will of a higher power. Unfortunately surrendering to this will often gets translated into “I must obey the will of God to the exclusion of my own”.

I have seen the result of this thinking when I have met people that are fulfilling their inner calling by, for example, starting a business or moving to another location or some such endeavor and then have tried to answer that call with a devotion that is beyond reasonable. They have run themselves ragged and gotten horribly out of balance even to the point that they can no longer continue.

Exhausted

I remember talking to one such friend that had felt called to a healing profession and was working from sun-up to sun-down trying to accommodate her clients. One day at a luncheon she told me how exhausted she was and yet she felt that if the phone rang, it was part of her God-given calling to serve that client no matter what.

I told her, “Wait a minute!  You have something to say in this. Have you forgotten that you are a co-creator with God? As such it’s vitally important to express your own will and tell God what your needs are. Don’t you know what a powerful position you are in to co-create a life of fabulous fulfillment? But in order to do so, you must express your will.”

Negotiate Your Contract

If you were interviewing for a high-ranking position at a major corporation, you would never think of saying an off-hand “yes” to whatever they offered you. You would enter confidently and powerfully into negotiation to define your salary, responsibilities, vacation packages, hours, promotional opportunities, and much more. Your potential employer would do the same, evaluating your skills, background, and how valuable they believe you would be to their organization.

Most of us don’t realize that the universe operates in much the same way. Just because you feel “called” to a certain task or opportunity doesn’t mean that you don’t also have the opportunity to engage your will and negotiate your contract.

My Heavenly Marketers

For example, when I first got the inner calling to write my book, “Hiring the Heavens” I knew that I wanted certain conditions met. The main one was that, as a busy mom, wife and natural health practitioner, I did not have the interest, time or energy to market the book. So I negotiated a contract with heaven that basically said, “OK. I agree to write the book if you agree to handle the marketing of the book, through word of mouth and other means, so it can successfully reach the people it’s meant to serve.”

I can honestly say my negotiation was successful and the marketing is working beautifully beyond my highest expectations! I have been able to speak on stage with some of the biggest names in the industry – without a doubt, the workings of my invisible marketing specialists. Tammy Holmes (a stranger to me at the time) called one day to ask if I would speak at her Awakenings Conference along with Marianne Williamson, Don Miguel Ruiz, Joe Vitale, Dan Millman and many others.  I asked her how she got my name.  She replied, “Spirit told me to get the author of “Hiring the Heavens”.  I didn’t even know if it was a book but I was near Barnes and Noble so I stopped in to see if such a book existed. Sure enough!  And that’s how I got your name.”

I just smiled and thanked my invisible helpers. I am confident in the knowledge that heaven needs me for my unique Light and is more than willing to accommodate my wishes.

Checking Your Contract

How do you know if your contract has been accepted? You’ll know because as you go along with your life and you’ll notice that things flow that way. The universe confirms that your terms have been accepted. If you don’t find yourself in flow then renegotiate your contract. Perhaps you wanted to work only 20 hours a week on a project and it’s requiring 30 hours. You could renegotiate to receive more monetary compensation for the extra hours, or maybe additional vacation time to make up for them.

Be bold and ask for what you want. Remember that God needs you in order to know itself. You’re the most qualified for the job of being you which means you’re in a great position to negotiate and get what you want. Then write out exactly what your terms are for accepting the position; articulate all the things that you most want just as if you were walking into a corporate office to negotiate an executive employment contract.

Co-creation is the ultimate win-win experience!

The Earth Dimension

There are innumerable dimensions of God’s creation. Our earth dimension is just one but it happens to be the one we, as humans, are most interested in. The Soul does NOT create the dimensions but rather uses these dimensions to explore various experiences.

Each dimension is “preloaded” with an overriding program setting up the structure. Although it might be highly simplified, think of it like various video games.

One game might be set up as a war theme and another as a mystery plot and yet another as a skill development. Each of these video games will have a structural program within which you as a player must abide.

The truth is our Earth dimension is so much more complex than a video game that it is almost ridiculous to compare the two but at least it will give us a starting point.

This Earth reality, like a video game, is preloaded and set up by a number of default programs within the consciousness of God that create the structure of reality for the purpose of experience.

The Spirits of Creation

Can you guess what holds these default programs and structures in place? Angels, divas, fairies, and a number of other entities from the spiritual realm, which I call the Spirits of Creation are responsible for creating and holding these structures in place!

You’ll be delighted to know these Spirits of Creation are interactive and want to assist you in the creation of experience.

Your angels can gently remind you of the rules of this dimension and often intercede on your behalf to protect you.  You can call upon the Spirits of Creation to support you in accomplishing any goal.

Here’s a great question for you; is there a way that you can access your carried-over information from past life experience, and the information about the choices your free will has made along the way so that you can understand more of why you are experiencing certain situations, and why some things manifest the way you want and others don’t?

In other words, is there a place where everything about you is known and secondly, can you get access to this information? The answer is YES – through your Higher Guidance!

Our “software”

If we could see ourselves the way quantum physics describes the true nature of reality we would be nothing more than waves of information.

The illusion of physicality is played out in the field of all possibilities – the mind of God. The field of energy that represents “you” contains information about your body, present life, past lives, intentions, and much more. You could think of this energy field “package” as an individualized software program, although it would be much bigger than anything Microsoft has to offer, even one with millions of functions! The software package that makes up “you” is infinitely more complex.

Programmers must have access to the software of a program so that new lines of code can be written and problems can be fixed.  When something isn’t working quite right the programmer must find the exact line of code that’s misbehaving in order to solve the problem. Once they are able to identify and correct the exact line of code that’s causing the malfunction, the program works optimally again.

Higher Guidance: Your Ultimate Expert

Fortunately you have the ultimate programmer at your fingertips: Higher Guidance. Your Higher Guidance knows everything about you and everything that’s possible to know about your energy field. Your Higher Guidance knows your unique information package that contains everything from your innate qualities and DNA programming, to the effects of every free will choice ever made.

And just like a programmer your Higher Guidance also knows the exact line of code that needs to be corrected to bring you more into alignment with your intentions and purpose.

Through your Higher Guidance, you can learn to identify a “glitch” in your code and turn unwanted behaviors around.  You can go to therapy for years, talk about your history and examine the problem from every angle; however, if you do not identify and correct the line of “malfunctioning code” in your system, you will likely continue to repeat the same unwanted behaviors.

Go directly to the source

Think of the years of searching, the thousands of dollars, and the vast amounts of energy you will save by simply going directly to your Higher Guidance: the only source that’s totally accurate, knows you completely, and will give you immediate answers—for free!

Your Higher Guidance will help you uncover and gain understanding about the information in your programming and, in many cases, make dramatic shifts in your reality to your pleasure.  You can explore the inner terrain of your consciousness, including the infamous subconscious and root out those places that cover up and deny the truth of who you really are.  Unless you have a way of accessing your Higher Guidance, you can spin your wheels for years and still not get to the causal code in the energy field.

Higher Guidance Journaling

As I mentioned before, my favorite method of receiving information and confirmation of Higher Guidance is through pendulum dowsing and Higher Guidance Journaling. Higher Guidance Journaling puts you directly in touch with the part of you that has the answers to any life question you could ever think up to ask.

Once you feel confident about having an open communication channel with your Higher Guidance you will be able to align your life to flow effortlessly toward your higher purpose. Whenever I want to know the truth about something, I always go directly to the Source.

Fooling Ourselves

Several years ago I attended a financial conference with approximately a thousand other people also hoping to achieve financial freedom sometime in their not-too-distant future.  The well-known conference was expertly presented, as they knew that the primary reason for people struggling with finances were the thoughts hidden within the individuals’ psyche.  Their way of getting at what those internal thoughts were was to ask a series of questions, which was minimally effective, because most of us don’t even know what our truth is.  We make up stories that sound good, but we are so capable of delusion, illusion, and denial.

One of the exercises was a four page survey of negative statements about money and we were to rate them on a scale from one to ten (ten being the highest) according to how strongly we felt they were true.   Money is the root of all evil.  Money doesn’t grow on trees.  The stock market is too hard to understand.  You get the picture.  All of my responses were either zeros or ones, which I thought was strange because I was not without financial issues.  Obviously, there was something going on…perhaps denial or just a complete inability to see the truth.

When I returned to my hotel room, I did some Higher Guidance Journaling and asked:  Are there a few of these statements that are, in truth, really a ten and I just don’t know it?  Turns out there were three.

Naturally, I balked, (after all, the unconscious IS unconscious), and asked to be shown evidence of this truth.  Well, one of the negative thoughts I had going was the belief that someday my ship will come in.  After I thought about it for a while, I realized that for my whole life I had been telling myself exactly that.  And because of that belief, there were decisions I had made based upon thinking that someday in the future my ship would come in, instead of dealing with the reality of present time.  I was shocked to realize how much I had based my financial life upon that very statement.

This shows the value of connecting with your Higher Guidance who is privy to the entire programming of your beliefs whether you are conscious of them or not. It is the most effective way at getting to your truth that I know of.

This is why Higher Guidance Journaling is so incredible.  It reveals how we are capable of making up stories that sound good – even logical, but have absolutely no basis in our own truth.  Like, we might make up a story that says, “I can’t make money because my mother said that I would never really amount to very much.”  Okay, sounds logical, but is it true?  Your Higher Guidance can tell you.
