The vast majority of people believe in angels or a divine source of assistance. Enthusiasts often reveal dramatic stories of divine assistance that have clearly affected them at a deep level. One such story I heard recently brings tears to my eyes every time I think of it.
A mother and her son
A mother recounted how she and her two-year-old son were admiring a parked fire truck. They crossed the street to go about their business, and then the unthinkable happened. The mother turned and saw her son running back across the street toward the fire truck and a car barreling down upon him. The impending accident was certain. It was an endless moment of anguish, panic, and pain that no mother ever wants to experience.
“Please God, NO!” was her only thought. Simultaneously with that thought, she saw an angel swoop down and catapult her son back into her arms with such force that they both fell backward. They held onto each other, crying with utter emotional relief as the full impact of what had happened came to their awareness.
Later that night when she was tucking her son in bed, her son said, “Mommy, did you see me fly!”
Stories of divine assistance
Spectacular stories such as this one warm our hearts and inspire our faith in miracles. However we have come to believe that the powers of the Universe are reserved for breathtaking rescues and other deeds of heroic proportion. What about smaller, less dramatic needs? Can the powers of the heavens be called upon to support us in mundane matters of ordinary life?
Open your eyes and you will see evidence on a less-sensational scale of daily occurrences that are every bit as miraculous. You do have access to the creative power of the celestial realms—a gift given to you by the heavens, and one you are expected to use with great joy for the highest good of all. You must first realize that you are an integral part of the divine plan of creation, not a bystander but in fact director of the grand drama of life on this Earthly plain. You can quite literally “employ” divine assistance to make your every wish a reality and invite miracles in even the small endeavors of your life.
A simple way to shift your perception of the spiritual world is to imagine a vast resource pool of eager specialists with every skill and talent needed to aid us in all aspects of our lives. Imagine an angel adept at accounting, or proficient at sales, or gifted in diplomacy. Imagine that an entire staff stands ready to support you in small issues such as arranging chance meetings, finding lost items, and bringing new insights. Whether you believe it is help from the angels, from your higher-self, or simply the power of thought, you can ease the struggle in your everyday life by tapping into this incredible Universal power.
Enlisting divine assistance
Last month, my friend Rachel called me, overflowing with excitement about her most recent experience with enlisting celestial assistance. Her twelve-year-old son, Logan, had to do a school report on football star Joe Montana. He had been frustrated finding resource books at the school library, so Rachel drove him to their local branch library. Rachel sat in the car with her younger daughter while Logan spent about an hour in the library. He returned to the car empty-handed and discouraged, having discovered that all of the Joe Montana books had already been checked out.
Rachel told him not to worry and suggested that he go back into the library and look around one more time. As he walked away, she closed her eyes and asked for an angelic homework assistant to help him find exactly what he was looking for. Just a couple of minutes later, she and her daughter walked into the library to see how he was doing. She saw her son standing in the check-out line, holding a wonderful oversized picture book with the title Montana across the top.
“That’s perfect!” she beamed. “How did you find it so quickly?”
He whispered, “You won’t believe this, Mom,” and then took her over to the side. He spoke as if he was a little spooked, recounting how he had returned to the sports section of the library when suddenly a thought appeared in his mind: “Maybe a book fell behind the shelves.” Something then compelled him to stick his head right into a space in the racks and look down.
He continued, “I saw the edge of a book, so I reached down and pulled this up!”
Logan was completely incredulous, but Rachel was certain it was due to divine assistance.
But what she told me next was so outrageous that I could hardly believe it myself: When Logan went to check out the book, the librarian at the counter told him that this book wasn’t even in the library’s computer system! It appears the spiritual homework assistant had placed the perfect book there for him, simply for the taking. Now that’s magic!

Hiring the Heavens book review from Cassandra:
Many months ago I attended the showing of Guerrilla Midwife in Santa Fe. This is a documentary movie about the work of Ibu Robin Lim, a midwife in Bali, who was present for this fundraising event. I was deeply touched by all that she is doing and the lives she is touching by bringing gentle birth to this area of the world. There are some serious issues in Bali such as if you can’t pay the hospital bill the hospital will keep your baby and you can go in to feed them at 8 in the morning and again at 8 in the evening.
When a hospital birth happens and the parents don’t have sufficient funds to pay, Robin keeps a special fund to help parents get their baby out of the hospital. That is just one example, there are more such as nutritional deficiencies from white rice agricultural practices that lead to serious hemorrhaging and infant formula issues to name a few.
After the movie Robin and I made a good connection and I found myself wanting to find ways to support her work so I purchased her movie. The next morning I had the thought that I would like for her to have a copy of Hiring the Heavens while she was on her trip, that this would be an easy, great way to boost her capacities with her work in Bali. I had to make a call to get the number of the organizer who had sponsored her.
Getting Hiring the Heavens to Robin
Things flowed well as I made the call and I got through to everyone first time. I explained that I wanted to get a book to Robin before she left out of the airport in Albuquerque which I expected would be sometime soon. Wow, they were actually on the road to the airport as I called, less than a half hour out but there was a traffic delay and Robin was concerned about whether she would make her plane. I hadn’t called a minute too soon.
As it looked unreasonable to get a book to Robin given the timing, the organizer let me know she had things to send to Robin and if I wanted to get the book to her in Santa Fe that she would mail it with what she was shipping to Robin. I agreed to this and hung up. Her phone was about to lose charge so within minutes I couldn’t reach her as it went directly to VM. In nano seconds after hanging up I realized that I really didn’t want to wait, that I wanted to get a book to Robin NOW, before she left New Mexico. I had to give it a try.
I let my A-Team (that’s what I call my angel committee, love the movie too). know that I needed help and very clear guidance. I headed out the door to Borders where there was a copy on the shelf, then drove straight to the airport which was about 20 minutes away (note this all was possible because the Sunport is relatively small and easy to navigate) .
Navigating the airport
When I got to the Sunport I could easily determine what Robin’s flight would be as I knew she was going to Austin, TX and the approximate time of departure, but I didn’t know for sure if she had made it to the airport or not. I went to several security officers and asked if someone could take the book to her at the gate.
They said no way could they do that, and in retrospect am now glad they didn’t confiscate it from me. I headed to the Southwest Airlines counter (usually great with customer service) and they said no way could they make anything happen and that I shouldn’t have even told them what I wanted to do. Very frustrating. (Who would suspect that a book about angels could be such a security risk).
Frustrated and needing to collect myself, I left wondering what I could do and to double check the departure monitor. Shortly I returned to the Southwest counter and the woman out front fielding passengers helped me out by physically describing Robin and that she had indeed checked in, so I knew that Robin had made it to the airport, but then this rep told me that what I wanted to do was IMPOSSIBLE.
Accomplishing the impossible
Alrighty then, you aren’t going to be much help I thought to myself, muttering a bit, “you shouldn’t have said that to me” as it really lit my internal fire.
Needing a boost and to focus I asked the angels for help again, and that if we weren’t before, we were now officially in miracle territory. I contemplated what I could do and went back to the security check in with the idea that I might find a late passenger who would take it to Robin at her gate. This would need to happen without a security person seeing me hand it off. It was maybe 20 minutes before Robin’s flight was due to leave at this point.
Several people walked by and there wasn’t anyone that I felt inclined to say anything to. Then a young man came through and I asked if he was flying Southwest by any chance. He said “no, why do you ask?” I quickly explained to him that I had a book that I wanted to get to a friend and that her plane was leaving soon. He said he had enough time and would do it. I gave him the book and said Robin’s name and gate, that was all.
Keeping the faith
He took Hiring the Heavens and placed it in his bag and headed off. I said, “her plane is loading now so this has to be done quickly and oh by the way what is your name?” He turned his head and over his shoulder said “Tony.” I walked maybe 30 feet and thought that I should tell him what Robin looked like. I walked back to where I had handed him the book and Tony was no where in site (I mean no where) and the security lines were not crowded so he should have been easily apparent.
I shrugged and let it go as worst case scenario someone who might not have read Hiring the Heavens otherwise now had a copy. I left the airport feeling light hearted and gave myself credit for making a dedicated effort. The next week I found out from the organizer that amazingly enough Robin had gotten the book, but the organizer didn’t have any specific information about it. She and I laughed about how we would know it was an angel if “Tony” morphed from a slender Caucasian guy to a curvy African-American goddess and it would be fun to learn what the person who got it to Robin looked like.
A couple of months later I responded to a group email sent out by Robin and asked her about the book, by any chance did she remember who handed it off to her? Robin wrote back that she was grateful for Hiring and this wonderful little book was making the rounds in Bali (yippee, very fun to hear that). She indicated that no, very sorry she didn’t remember what the person looked like as she was still frazzled about making it to her plane, but she did remember that it was handed to her in the walkway to the plane.
RIGHT! you have to get past boarding authority with a boarding pass to get there and none of the airplane personnel would touch it as the book was considered a security hazard. Wow….. this turned into an amazing unfoldment.
So let’s review: I handed a book off to someone I had never seen before who had less than 20 minutes before take off to make it through security and to get a book to Robin for whom he had no physical description. The book made it to Robin, being handed off in the walkway no less, where a boarding pass is needed, right! WOW! Thank you Tony and thank you angels for honoring my intention in a wonderful way. I have warm fuzzies whenever I think about it.

Hiring the Heavens review
Ditto everyone else’s glowing praise for this book and the technique. Here are a few of the results I’ve experienced:
Little miracles:
I have a long history of tearing my hair out and crying with extreme frustration when I do any machine sewing. One day I’d set aside an entire day to do a project and I hired the heavens to assist me. I was finished in 1 1/2 hours. My long-time sweetheart and I have extremely divergent strategies for shopping and we usually grit our teeth a lot. We hired the heavens before a major shopping trip out of town and it went so smoothly that we were actually energized by the time we returned home many hours later.
Big miracle:
When my dear sweet mother passed, I couldn’t find the opal ring she’d promised me since I was four years old. She grew up in Australia and bought the opal for herself when she was 12 years old. The ring almost symbolized her.
I scoured EVERY nook and cranny in her house, but no ring. After a year and a half, I thought I’d come to accept it, but when I read in the book about the gal successfully hiring a jewelry sleuth, I mourned the loss of my mom’s ring all over again and wished I’d known about hiring the heavens when I first discovered it missing. But then I thought, well, it’s certainly worth a try.
A couple weeks later when getting dressed, I grabbed a knotted lone sock out of my drawer to match its mate I’d found lurking in the laundry room, and there was something heavy inside. I untied it and reached in and pulled out my mom’s ring. I am not making this up!!! This really happened!!! And yes, I had worn those socks many times in the previous year and a half.
My bottom line beliefs: We create our own reality and there’s only one of us here. Hiring the heavens helped me bridge the gap between my not being so sure that I could create a miracle and actually doing so.
I see the angels as being part of me that resides on the other side of the veil which separates this physical reality from non-physical reality. The angels are the unlimited, can-do part of me. I still refer to them as “they,” but that’s just a grammatical device. I know the truth.
I encourage anyone wishing to increase their sense of well-being and their power to read this book and USE IT. Miracles DO happen!

I am always mesmerized by the stories I receive. Here is one about hiring an angel for spiritual pet support! How we ask for help is just as important as the ask itself.
Angelic pet support team
Jean: I belong to Unity in Fresno and heard your presentation to us a few weeks ago. I also bought and read your book, and we’ve been discussing it in our book group and prayer circle. I’m sure you’ve heard this many, many times, but your presentation to our church indeed changed my life all the way around. I’m sending you the following “testimonial” that just occurred earlier this week. I hope you enjoy it, I sure have.
A cat and a 100-year old farmhouse
The first night in my new house, a 100-year old farmhouse, one of my cats named Boleyn got out of the house through a window that wasn’t securely latched. I was, the next morning, beside myself with worry when I discovered she was gone. I spent a day worrying, and then decided to give this to my angels/Creator. I asked that Boleyn return to me. Of course, I was at that time only thinking about what I wanted, not what might be best for all involved.
The next day, I saw Boleyn under the house, and she came to me and let me pet her, and purred, but when I tried to pick her up she shot back under the house. I put food and water out for her, and checked it every day, and she was eating and drinking.
It then dawned on me that I was being selfish, and I re-configured my request. I sat there and said, “Angels, I want what is best for Boleyn and the other cats and me. Of course, I want her to come back to me and come inside, but if SHE doesn’t want that, and it isn’t the best thing for her, then I want what is best for her.” I then stepped back and stopped trying to make her come to me.
The cats out of the bag
I saw her occasionally over the next 2 weeks, around the house but she never came up on the porch. Every time I saw her, I said, “thank you!”
Then, over the weekend, on Saturday, when I was getting ready to take the dogs out one last time, there she was, sitting on the front porch. It was about 10:00 at night. I made sure the front room was secure and no other animals were there, and I opened the front door. I just sat there and talked to her, and she started meowing to me, telling me all about her adventures. She came up and let me pet her for quite awhile, but would not come into the front room.
Sunday night, the same scenario, but this time she did come into the front room, just far enough to get some treats, then she whipped back outside. I did not try to force anything. Both nights, I gave great thanks for being able to see she was okay, and for petting her. It made me SO grateful.
Monday night she came into the front room and let me pet her, but wouldn’t come in far enough to close the door. Again, we talked and she let me pet her for about 15 minutes and she ate more than her fair share of treats. You can imagine how many “thank you’s” I said to my angels that night.
Tuesday night she was there on the front porch and I opened the door. In less than 2 minutes, she waltzed into the front room, and walked around the open door into the other part of the room. She turned around, looked at me, and turned away and walked down to the water bowl and began to drink. I shut the door, and she started purring and went and used the cat box.
I opened the doors into the main part of the house, and she sauntered in and made contact with the other cats and came into the living room and laid down on the floor purring. She was ready to come home, and in she came! So we are all now reunited and man, I spent about an hour saying Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Since writing Hiring the Heavens in 2005, I have heard countless incredible efforts of hired angel committees resulting in the most unbelievable outcomes. Spiritual sleuths
My teenage son was upset because he lost his telephone list. Amongst his pacing, I took a moment to ask a sleuth angel to help him find the list. I asked if they could specifically place the desired list behind my son’s television. I then asked my son to check his room again–specifically behind his TV. With a roll of his eyes, my son responded, “I already did that!” But, to humor me, he went back to his room and checked again. Low and behold he came out all smiles with the list in hand. “Mom, I moved my computer to look behind the TV and there was my list. I don’t remember even seeing it close to there.”
Armed with my celestial work force, I am now prepared for any challenge that comes into my life. All I have to do is ask, take action, and leave the rest to the Angels. I have always believed in Angels, but you have taught me how to communicate with them. Thank you so much!

Spiritual romance committee

Angelic time management committee
I had been working two jobs simultaneously and averaging about seventy hours per work week. I felt tired and depleted. One of my employers scheduled an additional (unpaid) training session during the evening. I had deadlines to meet for my other job, and the training pertained to material that I was completely uninterested in.
I didn’t want to let either of my employers down, so I hired a Time Management Angel. I specially asked if the training class could be rescheduled and that no one involved be inconvenienced. An hour before I had to leave my home to attend the class, my employer left a message stating that the class had been canceled, and that he would consult with me as to my availability for rescheduling! We are never alone and there will always be a celestial support staff standing ready to support you when you need it. And yes, that includes financial support!
Hiring the Heavens is really about adopting a new paradigm of our relationship with the spiritual aspect of ourselves and the Divine. As such, we are being asked to consciously create our own world, fully confident in our seat of authority—and in our knowledge that the entire universe stands joyfully ready to assist us.
A story from a friend
I was down to my last dollar and desperately worried that I wouldn’t have enough to pay my mortgage. Yikes! So, I hired an Emergency Money Angel Committee. Earlier, I had applied for a mortgage loan, but was turned down. I kept the faith and called regular meetings with my Angel Committee. The day before my mortgage would default; I affirmed out loud that there would be a check in the mail to meet my needs.
On the due date, I didn’t see anything promising in the mail but proceeded to open the envelopes. And, guess what? In one of the envelopes was a letter with a check! The amount was for .12 cents over the amount of what I needed and it was immediately cashable! I was flabbergasted. The kicker was that the check was from the same company that turned me down before I hired my Money Angels.
It is amazing. I still have good credit and peace of mind thanks to those beautiful Angels and their work. Wow!

Spiritual homework assistant
Last month, my friend Rachel called me, overflowing with excitement about her most recent experience with enlisting celestial assistance. Her twelve-year-old son, Logan, had to do a school report on football star Joe Montana. He had been frustrated finding resource books at the school library, so Rachel drove him to their local branch library. Rachel sat in the car with her younger daughter while Logan spent about an hour in the library. He returned to the car empty-handed and discouraged, having discovered that all of the Joe Montana books had already been checked out.
Rachel told him not to worry and suggested that he go back into the library and look around one more time. As he walked away, she closed her eyes and asked for an angelic homework assistant to help him find exactly what he was looking for. Just a couple of minutes later, she and her daughter walked into the library to see how he was doing. She saw her son standing in the check-out line, holding a wonderful oversized picture book with the title Montana across the top.
“That’s perfect!” she beamed. “How did you find it so quickly?”
He whispered, “You won’t believe this, Mom ,” and then took her over to the side. He spoke as if he was a little spooked , recounting how he had returned to the sports section of the library when suddenly a thought appeared in his mind: “Maybe a book fell behind the shelves.” Something then compelled him to stick his head right into a space in the racks and look down.
He continued, “I saw the edge of a book, so I reached down and pulled this up!”
Divine intervention
Logan was completely incredulous, but Rachel was certain it was due to divine intervention.
But what she told me next was so outrageous that I could hardly believe it myself: When Logan went to check out the book, the librarian at the counter told him that this book wasn’t even in the library’s computer system! It appears the spiritual homework assistant had placed the perfect book there for him, simply for the taking. Now that’s magic!
The Universe does indeed work in mysterious ways. What would we do without our angelic helpers!

The vast majority of people believe in angels or a divine source of assistance. Enthusiasts often reveal dramatic stories of divine intervention that have clearly affected them at a deep level. One such story I heard recently brings tears to my eyes every time I think of it.
A mother’s divine intervention story
A mother recounted how she and her two-year-old son were admiring a parked fire truck. They crossed the street to go about their business, and then the unthinkable happened. The mother turned and saw her son running back across the street toward the fire truck and a car barreling down upon him. The impending accident was certain. It was an endless moment of anguish, panic, and pain that no mother ever wants to experience.
“Please God, NO!” was her only thought. Simultaneously with that thought, she saw an angel swoop down and catapult her son back into her arms with such force that they both fell backward, talk about divine intervention. They held onto each other, crying with utter emotional relief as the full impact of what had happened came to their awareness.
Later that night when she was tucking her son in bed, her son said, “Mom my, did you see me fly!”
Powers of the Universe
Spectacular stories such as this one warm our hearts and inspire our faith in miracles. However we have come to believe that the powers of the Universe are reserved for breathtaking rescues and other deeds of heroic proportion. What about smaller, less dramatic needs? Can the powers of the heavens be called upon to support us in mundane matters of ordinary life?
Open your eyes and you will see evidence on a less-sensational scale of daily occurrences that are every bit as miraculous. You do have access to the creative power of the celestial realms-a gift given to you by the heavens, and one you are expected to use with great joy for the highest good of all. You must first realize that you are an integral part of the divine plan of creation, not a bystander but in fact director of the grand drama of life on this Earthly plain. You can quite literally “employ” divine assistance to make your every wish a reality and invite miracles in even the small endeavors of your life.

We have all had those stomach dropping moments where we realize we’ve lost something. In my book Hiring the Heavens, I provide other-worldly examples of every day miracles and the spiritual jewelry sleuth is exceptional at their job.
A lost wedding ring
What happened to my brother Norm is a perfect example. The story began to unfold one Wednesday afternoon, when Norm removed his wedding band and placed it in his pocket while he worked in the yard pruning bushes. Later that evening he drove to the pizza parlor, and as he took his money out of his pocket he felt something hit his shoe and heard a clinking sound. He took a quick look around but thought nothing of it until he arrived back at the house when, of course, he realized his wedding band had fallen out.
Norm rushed back to the pizza parlor but had no success finding the missing wedding band. Frantically he asked all the employees to search as well, to no avail. For the next two mornings he returned to search, leaving notes for the cleanup crew. Still no luck. He continued to scour his truck, home, and yard, thinking maybe he had dropped the ring somewhere other than at the pizza parlor.
Possible is just an “ask” away – Hiring the Heavens
By Friday afternoon his heart was heavy, and he knew that the chances of ever finding his ring were slim now. But then he remembered my telling him of several rather unbelievable stories about long-lost items that had magically appeared once people “hired” Heavenly helpers.
Rather skeptical, but with nothing to lose, he pictured an expert spiritual jewelry sleuth standing ready to be dispatched on his behalf who would be able to locate his ring and bring it to him. Norm asked right out loud for this angelic assistance, all the while feeling a bit silly. He couldn’t imagine how the powers of the Universe could be interested or concerned about his small dilemma.
But the very next morning he experienced the incredible power of his asking. You see, there is one place my brother is sure to look each morning as he steps into his truck. It is a bare spot of dirt amid the landscaping, purposely left blank so that he has somewhere to place his foot. Shockingly, sitting on top of the dirt, was his wedding band!
Everyday miracles
Stunned, Norm tried to piece things together. Could the ring possibly have been there for three days without him noticing it? Maybe. He had stepped in and out of his truck at least a half-dozen times since Wednesday, each time looking directly at the small dirt platform. How could he have both missed seeing the ring and avoided even partially burying it in the dirt? There didn’t seem to be a rational explanation other than the intervention of some very special divine forces. An everyday miracle.
Why is this so hard to believe? Accessing the invisible skills of the Universe seems so far-fetched in our “I gotta see it to believe it” world. Yet I invite you to consider that many of the little coincidences we all experience are actually arranged from a limitless and ever-creative Source that has been responsible for the manifestation of our physical world since the beginning of time.
The best news is that you can begin to cultivate the frequency of these miraculous synchronicities simply by asking through my “hiring” concept. You may feel tentative at first, but soon you’ll have no doubt that an extraordinary and loving resource is there to support you every step of the way.
I have heard dozens of stories of this divine power in action that are so incredible they give me chills. Although I enjoy a jaw-dropping testimonial as much as anyone, the true essence of my message is much more subtle and comforting than all of the sensationalism. Ancient Vedic wisdom sums it up by saying there are just two symptoms of enlightenment: we find ourselves worrying less and less. And we encounter meaningful coincidences of our asking more and more.
Everything is taken care of for me
A gentleman named Gary understood this well when he described to me how everything in his life had changed since he had begun hiring his own angelic helpers a year earlier. Anticipating another enthusiastic account of miraculous proportion, I asked him if he could expound. He looked down pensively, almost as if he were stumped.
With a little tilt of his head, he told me that he could think of no particularly intriguing tale to share. “It’s just all the little things. I experience so many coincidences and synchronicities these days that my whole perspective on life feels different. The best way to say it is that the struggle is gone and there is so much more joy. I never worry about anything anymore. It’s like I know everything is taken care of for me.”
That’s what everyday miracles are really all about.
